One day Rukia and Ichigo, while they were doing their usual things, feell a huge Reiatsu (spiritual energy) and they head to it's origin. Review:
I am a huge fan of Bleach so when the movie came out I immediately watched it. It didn't blow me out of the water but it was an okay movie. The story was so so for the most part. Spirits called blanks, spirits who have lost their memories, have appeared in the real world along with Senna. Senna is a shinigami who seems to have a connection with the blanks and it is Ichigo's job to find out what it is and save the real world from an untimely fate. The story drags on for a good chunk when it reaches the middle of the movie, which involves Senna's and Ichigo's antics together. I would have liked a faster paced for the movie. I liked the bittersweet ending of it. On the negative side I really didn't like the antagonists of the movie. They seemed to generic for my taste. Another point is that they were made to look strong at first but then at the end they were just fodder for the captains, they fight, get slashed once and then they die. The antagonists were not really developed that much except maybe for their leader. On the positive side, I liked the involvement of the other shinigami of soul society. I always like it when I get to see Byakuya and Kenpachi in action. Senna is a good character, although I did found her rather annoying at the beginning but I warmed up to her by the end. The music was good. The ending theme was perfect for the bittersweet feeling of the ending and it really creates the right atmosphere for the end. The animation was well done especially the fight scenes at the end, typical Bleach. Nothing really special but overall it was good. The movie was generally okay, but it had some flaws which could have used some ironing out. A faulty story flow and a few ho-hum characters keep it from being really good. If you are a Bleach fan then I recommend that you watch it.
Grade - (B) - Plus - For non-fans it is still a decent enough watch.
