Dragon Ball Z - Cooler's Revenge - Anime Review
Plot Synopsis: Goku, Gohan, Krillin and Oolong's camping trip on Earth is cut short when 3 elite commandos show up and try to kill them. The soldiors, known as the Armor Squadren, have been brought to Earth by Koola--Frieza's older brother. Infuriated that his brother was defeated by the likes of a Saiyan, Koola is hell bent on killing Goku, and making him pay for his brothers disgrace.

Anime Review:
The Dragon Ball Z movies are hit and miss. But it's generally recognized amongst most fans that the fifth movie is pretty good. And I agree with this. One thing fans tend to bash the movies for is that a lot of them have the same general plot - Someone along with henchmen invades earth, Goku and his friends get thrashed, Goku powers up, the villain powers up, and somehow Goku beats the villain. Cooler's Revenge does tend to follow this overused trend, however, it is by far the best of the movies that uses this formula. Fans of Frieza are going to love seeing Cooler in action, and his squad of henchmen will definitely bring the Ginyu Force to mind. Piccolo's fights with Cooler's henchmen are awesome.
It's also great to see there are some parts of the movie that didn't focus so much on Goku, and it's even better that the ending to this movie wasn't the same "paint by numbers" ending Goku has in the previous three movies. There's a "surprise twist" toward the end of the movie that will catch you off guard, and this definitely adds to the overall appeal. This is more than "just another Dragon Ball Z movie." It's one that's actually worth watching.
Grade: C - A Good rental
