Dragon Ball Z - Movie 7: Super Android 13 - Anime Review

Synopsis:

It's a peaceful day in the city. Master Roshi, Oolong, and Krillin are psyched about an upcoming beauty contest featuring the best-looking women on Earth. Meanwhile, the Son family has gone shopping at a local mall. Everything's going normal.

Of course, a typical peaceful day in the life doesn't make for a very interesting Dragon Ball Z story. Don't worry, things get a lot more interesting.

Two Androids, clearly the Dr. Gero designs, attack the complex looking for Goku who they wish to kill. Goku lures them away from the city, and Vegeta and Trunks join the fray. With the arrival of a third Android, claiming to be Dr. Gero's ultimate creation, the duel between the three Androids and the three Super Saiyans begins!

Information:

Genre: Action, Animation

Anime Review:

The heroes for this movie are:

GOKU
VEGETA
PICCOLO
TRUNKS
GOHAN,BUT DOESN'T FIGHT
KRILLIN,BUT DOESN'T

BAD GUYS FOR THIS MOVIE:
ANDROID 13
ANDROID 14
ANDROID 15
SUPER ANDROID 13

This movie, like many of the Z films, tends to get a mixed reaction. If it's fast-paced Super Saiyan action you're looking for, this is the movie for you. If you want a brilliant, emotional, well thought-out storyline, go look someplace else. This one's pure action. It's just a "fun" movie, not one that was intended to win any contests for uniqueness or overall excellence. But if you're at all a fan of Dr. Gero's Androids or Super Saiyan battles, this is one worth watching.

It's also the first appearance of Trunks in the movies, and the film features some of his best action sequences, so if you're a fan of his, watch this one. Granted, I don't really think Piccolo or any of the lesser characters were really needed in this one, but that's a small issue. Ultimately it's a damn good movie. Just don't be expecting some well thought-out masterpiece with lots of character development and suspense. It's pure action this time around.

When getting down to brass tacks, this movie has great action with a very shallow story (bad guys show up to fight good guys...the end). It's worth the money for the loyal fan, but the casual watcher may want to wait for movie 8.

Grade: C(plus) - Watch this for Trunks (Yum Yum).
