First Kara no Kyokai Movie Sees Record Attendance -Anime News

January 28th 2008 22:33
The first (of 7 planned) Kara no Kyokai motion pictures, based on the novel series by author Kinoko Nasu, has reportedly set an attendance record at one of the two theaters screening the picture. Since the movie's opening on December 1, 2007, nearly 20,000 viewers have watched the film at the Theatre Shinjuku, establishing a record number of consecutive days for sell-out screenings at the 40 year old theater.

The first Kara no Kyokai movie is only screened at two theaters in Japan, both located in Tokyo, with a total of only 3 daily screenings, which partially accounts for the standing-room-only attendance at the screenings.

The second Kara no Kyokai movie opened theatrically on December 29, 2007. The third film is scheduled for theatrical release on February 9th. Kara no Kyokai website can be found here.
