Warner Brothers has posted a 107-second QuickTime movie clip from "The Babysitter," one of the eight episodes in the Japanese-animated Halo Legends anthology. Studio 4°C animated "The Babysitter" and Toshiyuki Kanno (Black Lagoon) directed the short with producer and Studio 4°C president Eiko Tanaka (Animatrix). The video is also available as a Windows Media file.


The anime studios BONES, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G, Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation are producing these side stories about the war between humans and the alien Covenant. The staff includes creative supervisors Aramaki and Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell); directors Aramaki, Hideki Futamura (The Animatrix), Daisuke Nishio (Dragon Ball Z), Hiroshi Yamazaki (Karas), Toshiyuki Kanno (Black Lagoon), Koichi Mashimo (Blade of the Immortal) and Koji Sawai (Patlabor); and directors/action designers Tomoki Kyoda (Eureka Seven, Evangelion 1.0) and Yasushi Muraki (Macross Plus, Vampire Hunter D).

The SXAniMedia blog has also posted the complete English and Japanese voice cast for Halo Legends anime anthology. Seraphim Studios, the company formed from the assets of A.D. Vision's Amusement Park Media dubbing outfit, is producing the English-language soundtrack. Warner Home Video will ship the North American DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases on February 16, 2010.


The official website for the live-action movie Kakera: A Piece of Our Life, which is based on Erica Sakurazawa's yuri manga Love Vibes, has posted a trailer for the film. The film centers on Haru, a college student trapped in a dead-end relationship with her cheating boyfriend. One day she meets Riko, a prosthetics artisan, at a cafe, and the two become friends. However, it soon becomes apparent that Riko's feelings for Haru involve more than just friendship. The film debuted at the Raindance Film Festival in September, and will have a theatrical release in Japan on April 3, 2010. Third Window Films has licensed the movie for a UK release, with a theatrical release in March and a DVD release in June.
