Viz Pictures Acquires Happily Ever After - Anime News
Viz Pictures has announced its domestic distribution rights to director Yukihiko Tsutsumi’s 2007 film Happily Ever After, an adaptation of Yoshiie Gouda’s manga series. Happily Ever After was the subject of controversy upon its initial release for its depiction of a co-dependent and devoted but troubled wife and her boorish, unemployed, and often abusive husband. But director Yukihiko Tsutsumi keeps the laughs coming as he explored this sensitive subject in a visually striking, darkly comedic way.
The film will initially screen in Seattle, Washington on August 15-21 at the Grand Illusion Cinema. Additional limited screenings will follow. The film will hit American DVD in February 2009.
