Review:
Honey and Clover is a nice and touchy story about lives of these teenagers venturing into adulthood. While it wasn't overwhelmed with emotions, it was filled with heart warming scenes that even a harcore action fan may enjoy. Unless you don't like these genre of animes, you won't be able to feel bored despite this story is simply filled with everyday stuff that would happen to anyone.
This sequel to Honey and Clover has much more content than what I've expected. While the previous season show more of the troubles in love, work and furture they faced in their lifes, season 2 shows more of how they went on to deal about it. Hagu's incident proved to be a stronger, deeper climax in the story than season one.
However, I got to say that none of the other animes I've seen felt this incomplete to me before. Things were finally beginning to show result (however ridiculous they might be), and before I've seen any real accomplishments of the characters, the story ends. Perhaps it's because it emotional in the middle of the series that I expected a lot from the ending.
From a story plot point of view there isn't much of a plot, but I would say the story was paced nicely thoughout the story with plenty of character developing for every key characters.
But however rich this series is, I feel that the ending was lacking much content conpared to the rest of the previous parts. Especially the key character in the series didn't get the most developing for the ending.
From a story point of view its like old people sitting down to reminicise about the younger days, but no matter my age I still enjoyed their younger days for these characters. Their anguish, their unrequited feelings, their troubles... and how they went on to overcome them. I'll say it's filled with heart-warming moments.
From an animation point of view it still has the light colour theme that I didn't like, but nevertheless it fits the theme of the anime really well. The artist didn't really draw these anime characters like how others usually draw but it's still really nice, espiecally small details and nice backgrounds.
From a music point of view I liked the voice of Morita-san and Hagu-chan, but the rest are still good. The insert music has always played a key role in creating the mood in the anime. The music really fits the theme. It don't really matter that not much ambience sounds or others is heard.
Overall I quite like it despite the fact that I didn't really have a thing for animes of this genre. And I would have liked it much, much better if not for the ending I felt so incomplete.
It was nice, but not perfect. For people who may like animes of this genre, it will definitely be an incredible watch, I can guarentee that.
Grade: A - A fitting ending to a wonderful anime. Quite rare these days. Do pick this one up when you have the time.
