House of Five Leaves Manga Gets TV Anime Green-Lit (Update 2) - Anime News
The Amazon Japan online retailer has revealed with the cover image from the January issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine that a 2010 television anime adaptation of Natsume Ono's House of Five Leaves (Sarai-ya Goyou) manga has been green-lit. The anime will run during Fuji TV's popular Noitamina late-night timeslot. Viz Media has been posting installments from this manga in English on its SigIkki website since this past May.
The manga follows the lives of the House of Five Leaves gang members in Edo-era Japan during the height of the shogun's rule. In particular, the masterless samurai (ronin) Akitsu Masanosuke finds himself desperate for work after being let go by one lord after another for his naïvety. He becomes the bodyguard of the House of Five Leaves gang's charismatic leader Yaichi and discovers there is more to the gang leader than his criminal activities would suggest. The manga has been runnning since 2005, and six volumes have been published in Japan.
Ono also created the manga that inspired the Ristorante Paradiso anime. Like House of Five Leaves, the Ristorante Paradiso anime also aired in the Noitamina time slot. Viz is publishing Ono's Ristorante Paradiso manga next March. Crunchyroll has been streaming the Ristorante Paradiso anime.
Ono launched another Edo-era manga, Tsuratsurawaraji ~Bizen Kumada-ke Sankin Emaki~, in Kodansha's Morning 2 magazine on Friday.

Update 2: A Manganimation.net forum user noted hat a Sarai-ya Goyou preview website has opened. The source of the site's placeholder page lists Sarai-ya Goyou, Natsume Ono, Shogakukan Ikki, Samurai Champloo, and Manglobe Inc. as keywords.
