Review:
I have to say for once that I think a movie of an anime was made better than the anime itself. I don't want to spoil too much, but this movie is not a continuation; instead, it's like a different version set before the anime but made in its own universe - that might not make sense, so why don't you just watch the movie. Eureka Seven has always been about young love, and that doesn't change here. Instead, it actually makes it better here than the anime. Besides the usual two (R and E) saying each others' names a lot, I found nothing totally wrong with the movie since it's so well-paced that you forget that it's even a movie. The story well its Eureka Seven - what can you expect? It's really good and dives deep into the story of two crazy lover kids - this makes for a pretty darn good story, and would probably be pretty hard to find anywhere else (if not nearly impossible). Other than that, you might find yourself confused at the beginning - but it explains itself quickly and nicely (with probably some of the most interesting explanations out there). The characters while most remain the same, you will be surprised at the changes in some of them. I don't want to say too much though cause you really need to watch it! The animation has a few enhancements here and there but mostly the same, which should be really good by any standard. The music is what you expect - good, just not memorable (at least, of the added songs, because the much of the music from the anime was reused). My judgement is that I cant say the best anime movie, but it's the best in terms of a movie made from an anime in this genre (yes that includes TTGL moive #1). It's a must watch for any fan and anyone that loves romance and action (more teen romance than anything though). It just really left its impact and blew my expectations of anime of movie type movies (read it slowly so your mind won't explode). Just make sure you watch the anime first;I find this unnecessary because they explain everything within the 2 and a half hours.
Grade: B (plus) - Worth a look after the tv series.
