Osaka Hamlet Manga Gets Anime Green-Lit for Summer - Anime News

A flyer at this week's Tokyo International Anime Fair has announced that an anime adaptation of Hiromi Morishita's Osaka Hamlet manga has been green-lit for this summer. The omnibus manga collects a variety of stories about Osaka dwellers and the problems they face. It ran in Futabasha's Manga Action seinen magazine from 2005 to 2006 and again from 2008 onward. The anime's official web has already launched.

The manga won an award of excellence in the manga division of the 10th Media Arts Festival Awards in 2006, and it then won the Short Work Award in the 11th Annual Tezuka Cultural Prizes in the following year. Director Fujiro Mitsuishi had already adapted the manga into a live-action film which premiered in October of 2008.
