Peace Maker Kurogane chronicles the tale of the boy Tetsunosuke Ichimura joining the Shinsengumi, one of the militia forces under the Tokugawa Shogunate. The fact that Tetsunosuke survived the massacre of his family, along with his brother motivates his desire for revenge. Now he is appointed as Toshizo Hijikata's page. What will he do?
At first when I saw the title of this show, I expected something different, but when I got some info on it, I quickly felt like I have got to see this show since it is a samurai show which I love. The story to this is similar to Rurouni Kenshin, but there are the differences. First off, this is more from the point of view of the shinsengumi and their lives, and how they work. This show is not a 95 episode show, it is a 24 episode show. I have to admit the plot was very slow, but I think this is because they had to introduce some of the characters and develop them. The plot got really good after episode 16; it had the emotional moment when someone close to the people in the hinsengumi died, and everyone was very sad, especially the victim's brother and the main characters. I found the scene where the main character(Tetsu) was mourning for his good friend along with the victim's brother who was mourning mourning for his sister, to be the saddest scene in the whole show in my opinion. Now the characters. Let's see. I did not really care for the main character Tetsu because he was just a very sensitive kid and always cried, but when it came to the ending parts, boy, was he so cool, he kicked ass. A character who was my favourite was Okita, I'm sure you are familiar with that name from Rurouni Kenshin. Yes, that guy was awesome at fighting. The only problem I had with him was that when I first saw him, I thought he was a girl. Then there were the three comedic guys; those guys were awesome and they were the main people that brought the humour to this show, and by the way they kicked ass in fighting too. The animation in this show had no flaws, the action was great. The action was best at the ending when they got into some CG animation. The blood and gore were also really well done. I found that when it came to the blood splattering, they were realistic, and enjoyable to watch, and once again they were most enjoyable to watch in the ending. The characters looked great and very cool. The only problem was the look of Okita. When he is fighting, he does not have that appearence of a girl anymore but you don't see him in his uniform. Mostly, you see him in his normal clothes and he looks like a girl at those times. The music to this show was great, the rock music was great, really fitting with some of the scenes. Opening was pretty good, I did not really have a problem with the ending theme but it can get repetitive.

Review:
Adapted from the two series of manga, Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker & Peace Maker Kurogane (though mainly from the former) by Nanae Chrono.

Grade (B) - Plus - Overall this anime was really enjoying to watch. The first 4 episodes were great to watch. From there until episode 16, it was okay to watch. It was after episode 16 that this show was great, and had you hooked. From there till the end, you get this awesome rollercoaster ride. This show has some flaws but it redeemed itself after episode 16 and at the end, that is when the show was really entertaining. This is one of my favourite animes, because of the exellent ending. Right now, I would say "Go watch it!"
