Yen Press to Move Yen Plus Manga Magazine Online - Anime News
Yen Press has announced on Wednesday that it will no longer publish its Yen Plus manga anthology in print, and will instead move it online. The print edition's last issue will be the July 2010 issue. Yen Press has also said that there will be "content changes which we will announce when the time is right." Subscribers will receive refunds for any outstanding issues on their subscriptions beyond the July issue.
Yen Press launched the magazine in August of 2008, after announcing it at the New York Anime Festival in December of 2007. The magazine ran Japanese manga (which flip pages from left to right), Korean manhwa (right to left), and original English works (right to left). As a result, the magazine laid out all stories, regardless of origin, in their original page format and published each issue with two "front" covers.
Among the series that ran in the magazine's first issues were Soul Eater, Maximum Ride, Nabari no O, Sumomomo Momomo, Bamboo Blade, Higurashi: When They Cry, Jack Frost, One Fine Day, Sarasah, and Pig Bride. Yen Plus would later add other titles such as Black Butler, Gossip Girl, Nightschool, and Time and Again.
Update: More background information added.
